Cambridge Police Department Updates:Bicycle Theft
The Cambridge Police are closely monitoring and directing Officers to focus their attention on a recent increase in bicycle thefts in the City. In June, bicycle thefts were up 21 percent compared to May (9 more incidents), while they are up 12 percent in the first half of 2020 compared to the first half of 2019. On 02/29/2020, I, Officer Thomas Lambert was in full uniform while assigned to marked cruiser West-6 during the 12am-8am shift. At approximately 2:04am, I was saw individuals outside of the Burren fighting in the middle of Elm Street. After relaying this to Somerville Control, East-1 Officer Bork, East-4 Officer Nicholas Moreira, West-5 Officer Justin Brown, West-7 Officer Sergio Costa, Sector West Officer McLaughlin and Sierra-8 Sergeant Marino responded as well.
